Ghost Driver Traffic Cutting Tips
Read the pack early and keep the multiplier alive.
Traffic cutting is Ghost Driver’s skill ceiling. Anyone can hold W; ghost drivers pre-select gaps two cars ahead. These tips assume you already know Controls and the cash loop.
Tip 1 — scan in layers
Look at three bands:
- Immediate bumper zone.
- Mid pack (your next cut).
- Far pack (where the lane opens).
If you only stare at the hood, you react late and crash.
Tip 2 — choose the boring lane
The fastest-feeling lane is often a trap. Pick the lane with uneven NPC spacing — irregular gaps are opportunities. Perfect walls mean lift and wait.
Tip 3 — throttle is a tool
Feather W before a cut so you arrive as a hole opens. Full throttle into a closing gap is how multipliers die.
Tip 4 — short drifts only
Use How to Drift techniques to rotate, then return to grip. Long slides look cool and pay poorly.
Tip 5 — headlights are IQ
L is not cosmetic in dark asphalt stretches. Seeing a dark SUV early is free money.
Tip 6 — reset after adrenaline
Following a heroic triple cut, take one calm second. Chaining panic decisions causes the crash that erases the highlight.
Tip 7 — duel pressure lines
In Highway Duels, force rivals toward denser NPC clusters if your traffic IQ is higher. Make them panic first.
Tip 8 — car honesty
If tips fail, your car may be too twitchy. Drop to an A-tier farmer on Best Cars and retry.

Mental model

Engine and whoosh cues often telegraph a fast NPC before you consciously see it. Play with volume high enough to hear lane threats, especially in first person.
Tip 10 — exit ramps of attention
Every ninety seconds, deliberately scan mirrors/camera behind you. Tunnel vision on the next gap is how a trailing car becomes a surprise bumper.
Tip 11 — weather and contrast
If a patch adds rain, fog, or darker nights, immediately re-enable headlights and slow your ambition for one warm-up lap. Contrast changes invalidate yesterday’s gap timing.
Tip 12 — teach-back method
Explain your last clean minute out loud or in notes: which lane, which lift, which drift. If you cannot narrate it, you probably got lucky. Lucky lines do not repeat — taught lines do.
