Reverse-engineer the grind before you open Shop.

Cash Goals Planner

This planner helps Ghost Driver players turn vague “I need money” feelings into a concrete target. Because PRE-ALPHA prices move, we use frameworks you can refill with live Shop numbers.

Step 1 — pick a goal type

  1. Survival upgrade — leave a helpless starter body.
  2. Farmer upgrade — raise cash/min (see Earn Cash).
  3. Duel upgrade — board a cutter for Highway Duels.
  4. Collection flex — optional, lowest priority.

Match the type to a role on Best Cars.

Step 2 — write the target

Copy this template into your notes:

  • Goal car / upgrade: ____
  • Shop price today: ____
  • Current cash: ____
  • Remaining: ____
  • Seed from codes tonight: ____ (check Codes)

Step 3 — estimate sessions

Rough PRE-ALPHA planning math:

  1. Do a 10-minute timed run.
  2. Multiply earned cash × 3 for a half hour, × 6 for an hour.
  3. Add any code seeds.
  4. Divide remaining cost by your hourly estimate.

Example: need 30,000 more, earn ~8,000/hour → about four focused hours, fewer if a new code drops.

Step 4 — spend rules

  • I can control the car (tested via Controls).
  • My crash rate is acceptable.
  • This purchase beats cosmetic temptation.
  • I still have a buffer for mistakes.

If any box fails, choose a cheaper A-tier farmer instead.

Step 5 — after purchase review

Within fifteen minutes note:

  • Cash/min up or down?
  • Drift recovery better? (How to Drift)
  • Ready for duels? (Duels)

Downgrade your opinion of the car if metrics fell — ego is expensive.

Goal ladder example

  1. Redeem SORRYFORLATE.
  2. Buy first stable body.
  3. Grind to farmer upgrade.
  4. Learn traffic IQ (Pro Tips).
  5. Enter duel nights.
  6. Chase meta cutter only when ready.

Tie-ins

Reminder

The best goal is the one you finish. A finished B-tier plan outperforms an eternal S-tier fantasy.

Set the number. Run the highway. Tick the buy.

Multi-goal parking lot

Keep one active goal and a backlog of two. Active goals get sessions; backlog goals wait. Three simultaneous “must buy” targets guarantee impulsive Shop visits.

Inflation awareness

If a patch raises prices, recalculate remaining cash immediately. Old estimates poison motivation. Updates plus this planner should be a paired tab set on patch day.

Reward looping

When you complete a goal, schedule a ten-minute fun drive with no checklist — then set the next goal before you log off. Celebration without a next target invites aimless spending.

Team goals

Crews can share a garage fantasy (everyone unlocks farmer tier this week). Shared goals make duels friendlier and reduce toxic flex purchases that wreck progression.

Buffer math

Always keep a 10–15% cash buffer above the sticker price for impulse mistakes or sudden tuning unlocks. Hitting zero after a purchase forces desperate duel spam.

Goal expiration dates

Give each active goal a calendar expire (for example three nights). If unmet, either lower the car tier or extend deliberately — silent eternal goals become guilt, not motivation.

Patch pause rule

On roadmap drop week (Pre-Alpha Roadmap), freeze cosmetic goals and keep only survival/farmer goals until you re-baseline cash/min.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How do I know a car price?

Check the live Ghost Driver Shop. This planner uses your typed numbers because PRE-ALPHA prices change.

Should codes count toward goals?

Yes. Treat codes as seeds that shorten the grind, then still finish with traffic income.

What if I keep failing my time estimate?

Your crash rate is probably high — revisit traffic tips and controls before buying a harder car.
